Yesterday we drove from Bled, West and then South from Kranska Gora along the Vrsic Pass. Truly amazing scenery from this mountain road with 50 hairpin bends! Each bend is numbered and has cobbled road. We were a bit apprehensive about heading this way, but it was well worth it and after seeing the local bus (which is a coach) do it we definitely could! As you come off the pass you meet the Soca valley, named for the river, turquoise and freezing cold we stopped off on the roadside for a paddle.
A short drive on we stopped for supplies at Bovec, got loads of good fruit, veg and bread. Bovec is the place to be if you want adventure activities, there were lots of adult scouts about. We then carried on about 20km to Kobarid and found a lovely site by the river, surrounded by the mountains. Kamp Lazar- a small site with a fantastic restaurant as we found out last night. An outdoor restaurant all built from reclaimed wood and tiles with open fires. Mark had local sausages and I had daily special lamb casserole.
We've taken loads of pictures of this journey, here's some of them....
