Hungary- first impressions

It's not hot, there is cloud, I can wear denim! Ooo happy face.

We crossed a very thorough border into Hungary yesterday afternoon (thursday 9th) after discovering that there are no campsites north of Zagreb even if the roadmap says there is. From the border to lake Balaton there was cloud as far as you could see, we were loving this cool air! We chose the north of the lake as this is meant to be less 'tacky' than the south, most place names begin with Balaton.... and then another word you have difficulty pronouncing! We are in Balatongyorok. So BalatonMilan drove us expertly to a small site I found online, the cheapest in the area at 4650 Forint a night. There is loads of camping here but cheap and cheerful is best. We got changed after feeling a bit under dressed for the new climate and went to the bar; I got to wear denim and mark had a shirt with sleeves!

The food and beer is cheap, but you feel rich it costs thousands for a burger and chips!

So we have worked out 360 Forint is £1...for the mathematically challenged, like myself, Hungary will be fun. It will really be fun if all things remain so cheap; big burgers and chips with beers was about £10 last night. Once again we find ourselves presumed and then pretending to be German! All of the other customers were German and the bar staff were either German or fluent in it. I attempted some Hungarian and got German back, so we went with German! We spent the evening reading the lonely planet and using the wifi.

In other news...Mark has fake crocs and loves them more than his bike!...he also insists on playing those grab a soft toy arcade machines and yesterday Winnie the poo dressed as a leopard joined hello kitty in the van.
